Intellectual Property

The Firm has a rapidly expanding intellectual property practice. We assist clients in the protection of their intellectual property, including copyrights, trademarks, patents and trade secrets, which typically represent a company's most valuable assets. We provide advice regarding, and prepare and negotiate, non-disclosure agreements, confidentiality agreements and employment agreements that are designed to protect such property. As our clients develop new ideas for products and product names, we review them for availability by conducting patentability and trademark searches. We then help our clients obtain federal registrations for their copyrights, trademarks and patents before applicable governmental authorities, and assist with licensing of their intellectual property. We act vigorously, through actions in Federal and State Courts and the Patent and Trademark Office, to protect our clients from those infringing on their intellectual property rights. As part of our proactive approach, we conduct "intellectual property audits" to detect defects in intellectual property rights that may adversely affect the value of a client's assets, so that corrective measures can be taken. We also advise clients in the negotiation of collaborative research and development agreements with the federal government.
