Mr. Filocco has been associated with the firm
since 1979. He received his undergraduate training at Rutgers College
obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in history in 1971. He received his Juris
Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law in 1976. He was admitted
to the bars of New Jersey and Florida in 1976, and is member of the
American, New Jersey State and Hudson Bar Associations. He is also a
member of the American Trial Lawyers' Association.
In nearly 30 years of practice in civil litigation, Mr. Filocco
has handled a wide variety of cases.This includes substantial cases involving insurance
coverage litigation, commercial contract, commercial landlord/tenant
and construction disputes. In recent years he has developed an expertise
in the defense of toxic tort claims, general product liability law, and construction disputes.
The broad range of matters that he has handled includes cases involving
environmental law, and the regulation of public utilities, such as litigation
on behalf of landfill owners concerning sound environmental closure
under state and federal law and insurance coverage for such closure,
as well as claims of commercial property developers relating to the
costs of extending public utility services. Over the years he has also
handled numerous personal injury matters on behalf of both plaintiffs
and defendants. He has also developed a special expertise on the issue
of defamation over computer-controlled communication systems such as
paging systems and computer networks, and has published an article on
that subject.
Clients for whom he has provided substantial service
include SBC Communications Inc., Metromedia Paging Services, Turner
Construction Company, Hartz Mountain Industries, the DeLorenzo Properties
Company, Tosco Corporation, and the Bergen County
Utilities Authority.
