Laurence R. Maddock has extensive litigation experience, concentrating on corporate and public entity defense litigation, including complex commercial disputes, employment discrimination, products liability, fire cause and origin, complex fraud, negligence, and contractual matters. Mr. Maddock’s practice areas also include white collar criminal defense work, plaintiff’s litigation, internal corporation investigations, and worker’s compensation.

Mr. Maddock has represented, in litigation matters, clients such as the Bergen County Utilities Authority, ConocoPhillips Company, Crescent Heights of America, Englehard Corporation, Exxon Corporation, Exxon Research and Engineering Company, and the Federal Pacific Electric Company. Mr. Maddock is also counsel to the Passaic County Ethics Board.

Mr. Maddock was an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey from September, 1974 until August, 1986, during which time he held various positions: Assistant in the Special Prosecutions Division, responsible for complex political corruption cases from September 1974 - 1978; Assistant in the General Criminal Division, 1978; Chief of the Major Traffickers Drug Unit from 1979 - April, 1983; Senior Litigation Counsel, February, 1983 (then one of thirty-three Senior Litigation Counsel among more than 2,000 Assistant United States Attorneys); Deputy Chief of the Frauds Division, April , 1983 - September, 1983; Chief of the Frauds Division, September, 1983 - September, 1986, in which position Mr. Maddock coordinated and supervised all major federal fraud prosecutions in the District of New Jersey, as well as personally prosecuting major fraud cases. Mr. Maddock’s professional awards include two Special Achievement Awards from the United States Department of Justice (1976 and 1978). Mr. Maddock was an instructor and lecturer for the United States Attorney General’s Advocacy Institute, Washington, D.C., as well as at various economic crime conferences.

Mr. Maddock has been in private practice since September, 1986, with extensive experience in complex corporate defense litigation.

Mr. Maddock has been awarded Martindale-Hubbell’s highest rating of a pre-eminent lawyer.
